In every thriving democracy, civil society organisations (CSOs) play a vital role in bridging the gap between the people and the state. In Liberia, a country still healing from conflict and striving to deepen its democratic culture, CSOs remain central to fostering transparency, accountability and inclusive development. This event, hosted by TAF Liberia, provides a timely and critical platform to reflect on how civil society in Liberia can be better recognised, supported and strengthened. As Liberians continue to demand more responsive governance, CSOs have become the moral compass and watchdog of the nation, amplifying grassroots voices, delivering essential services and advocating for human rights and social justice.

Former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan once said, “Civil society is the oxygen of democracy.” In Liberia today, where nearly 50% of the population is under the age of 18 (UNICEF, 2023), the work of civil society in shaping inclusive policies, youth engagement and civic education is more urgent than ever.

The dialogue will bring together civil society leaders, policymakers, government representatives, youth voices and community activists to discuss:
- The evolving role of CSOs in nation-building
- Opportunities for deeper partnerships between CSOs and government
- Challenges of political will, funding and legal frameworks
- The cultural importance of Ubuntu and solidarity in Liberia’s civic landscape

TAF believes the future of Africa lies in the hands of its organised, conscious and empowered citizens. This conversation is not just about policy, it's about power, purpose and people.
