The African Federation’s Liberia Chapter will convene a critical conversation addressing one of the most pressing issues affecting the nation’s development, control over food systems. Despite Liberia’s fertile land and rich agricultural potential, the country remains heavily dependent on food imports and foreign-run agribusiness.
This event explores how Liberia’s agriculture has been shaped by lingering colonial structures, ranging from exploitative land deals and donor-driven policies, to foreign investment models that sideline local farmers. Participants will examine the impact of this dependency on national food security, rural livelihoods and economic autonomy.
Speakers will offer forward-thinking strategies for building a self-reliant, inclusive, and locally-driven food system. The event also aligns with The African Federation’s broader mission to challenge neocolonial structures and empower nations to reclaim sovereignty over their natural resources and development pathways.
Join TAF Liberia in redefining agriculture, not as a foreign-controlled commodity sector, but as a foundation for national sovereignty and Pan-African transformation.
