On 9th October 2025, The African Federation (TAF) will host a live discussion on X to commemorate Uganda’s 63rd Independence. This event brings together Ugandan leaders and Pan-African thinkers to reflect on the country’s journey since 1962 and to project its future within the broader African renaissance.
The conversation will explore Uganda’s historical and political evolution, the economic milestones and challenges, the cultural significance of independence, the links between environment and identity and the social and wellness impacts on citizens. It will also situate Uganda’s story within Africa’s regional and global significance
Speakers include:
Counsel Kalekelera Ian Grace, who will reflect on Uganda’s economic development since independence
Dr. Waikya Colline, offering insights into the cultural significance of independence and national identity
Dr. Ottoo Marvin, highlighting the environmental connections to Uganda’s independence journey
Dr. Lusalalira Allan, examining the social and wellness impacts of independence on Ugandan society
Peter Eyamu, addressing the regional and global significance of Uganda’s independence
Musanjufu Benjamin, presenting a broad outlook on governance, economy, environment, wellness and the narrative of Uganda’s independence
