The conversation surrounding African health has long been dominated by models that prioritise external perspectives over indigenous wisdom. On May 2, 2026, The African Federation's Welless Focus Unit will host a critical X Space discussion titled "Reclaiming Our Health Identity: The Ideal African Approach to Wellness." Moderated by Lusalalira Allan, CEO of TAF Wellness, this live audio event invites us to pause and reflect on what a sovereign health system truly looks like when centered on the philosophy of Ubuntu and ancestral practices.

The dialogue will bring together a distinguished panel including Dr. Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, Mr. Waikya, Ms. Atuhaire, and wellness advocate Ms. Adeyemo Deborah to dismantle the "slavery mentality" often found in modern healthcare. We will explore how the rise of non-communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension is linked to the loss of traditional protections and discuss how to build a globally competitive health system that remains authentically African. This is not merely a theoretical exercise; it is a call to action for every citizen to take ownership of the wellness systems we intend to inhabit by 2035 and 2050.

Through this session, we aim to secure public commitments from participants to champion our health research, ensuring that the insights shared reach every corner of our network. By centering community wisdom over colonial imitation, we are not just talking about health, we are architecting the very foundation of African sovereignty.
