For too long, African health systems have been engineered through a lens of dependency, relying on external models that often overlook the continent’s unique social and cultural fabric. On May 9, 2026, The African Federation's Wellness Focus Unit invites you to a high-level Zoom Event titled “Breaking the Colonial Chains: Decentralising Foreign Influence for True Health Sovereignty.”

Moderated by Waikya Colline, this session is a direct confrontation of the status quo. We are moving beyond the "No More" slogan to define the technical and institutional shifts required to reclaim our wellness systems. This webinar is designed as a collaborative think-tank where participants aren't just listeners, but co-architects of our 2026–2028 strategy.

Our Objectives

  • Concrete Policy Generation: We aim to secure 150 dedicated participants to generate 25 actionable policy ideas for TAF Wellness advocacy

  • Strategic Refinement: We are collecting 40+ expert feedback responses on our latest research findings to ensure our future roadmap is data-driven and community-led

  • Broad Impact: Through targeted post-event sharing, we aim to reach over 2,000 viewers, sparking a continental dialogue on health independence.

Our panel of experts will tackle four critical guiding questions designed to dismantle colonial influence. We will explore how to transition from foreign aid dependency to domestic self-sufficiency, how to integrate ancestral wisdom into modern medical frameworks, and what structural changes are necessary to build a health system that answers only to the African people.
