Our theme for the month of April is
Africa's Mineral Resources

Expanding upon our exploration of 'Africa's Mineral Resources,' our TAF Policy Paper now includes two additional critical dimensions. We dig deeper into sustainable practices and environmental stewardship emphasizing the importance of responsible mining practices, highlighting strategies for mitigating environmental impact and promoting long-term sustainability. Additionally, we examine the significance of linkages and value addition in Africa's mining sector, emphasizing the potential for adding value to raw materials within the continent and supporting local economic development. Our policy paper offers a holistic understanding of the complexities surrounding African mineral resources, guiding informed policy-making and strategic interventions for sustainable and inclusive development.

Africa's Mineral Resources

This TAF Policy Paper aims to explore and emphasise the immense significance of the mineral resources found throughout Africa. Through collaborative efforts, we can enhance our comprehension of Africa's mineral wealth, ensuring that a wide range of viewpoints are taken into account. Together, we can produce a document that highlights the abundance and significance of our shared mineral resources.

Strategy 2035 - Members

TAF Members affiliate with a nation or country Chapter and associate with one or more central Focus Units. Chapters are led by a country Chapter Head, supported by a leadership team including Representatives of each of our 5 central Focus Units. Each Rep: (1) represents their respective central Focus Unit to their associated Members and vice versa; (2) facilitates engagement between them; (3) encourages active involvement in the work of Focus Unit centrally; and (4) coordinates & leads relevant policy discussion within the chapter.

TAF sees the direct interface between Members and the work of the Focus Units, and the role of the Focus Unit Representatives in facilitating this, as a critical component of our strategy because Members from across the continent must be directly and pro-actively engaged together in policy development, endorsement & advocacy at our 5 central Focus Units, and manufacturing unity.

Chapters' role in building and maintaining a strong working relationship between our Members and our Focus Units, therefore, is a cornerstone of our strategy.

TAF Assembly Call for Volunteers

Our Assembly is the highest governance organ of TAF. Its principal role is to ensure that TAF remains true to the Pan-African spirit, principles and objectives of our charter, reflecting the voice of African people in our strategy and objectives and to hold our Cabinet and Executive to account for TAF's plans and progress. Since inception, TAF has been operating our Interim Assembly, overseen by our Interim Speaker. Having made considerable operational progress, TAF now wishes to expand the number of Assembly Members, in order to extend the effectiveness of our Assembly and to strengthen our institutional governance.

The Speaker of the TAF Assembly has issued a call for nominations and volunteers to join the ranks of Assembly Membership. Subject to selection and the TAF onboarding process, applications are open to any Members and non-Members who are aligned with TAF's Vision & Mission. For more information read the full Call for volunteers.
