"Food Sovereignty in Africa"

Food Sovereignty in Africa

Karanja Gaçuça of The African Federation emphasises the need to address food sovereignty in Africa. To know more about TAF, visit the TAF Website

Our theme for the month of May is
Why TAF is Needed

Continuing our exploration on "Why TAF is Needed", this week we turn our focus to the benefits that collaboration among African nations can bring. From economic growth to social development, we highlight how increased cooperation can amplify opportunities and address shared challenges for the collective advancement of the continent.

We also analyse the current state of African unity, examining the strides made and the hurdles yet to be overcome on the path towards greater cohesion.

Why TAF is Needed

This month's Policy Paper will solidify the reason why TAF is needed. Join us in this collaborative endeavour as we define why TAF is not just an idea, but a crucial instrument for shaping Africa's destiny.

Visit the TAF Online Community to read what we have gathered so far and add your comments or tell us what is missing.

Strategy 2035 - Thought Leadership and Focus Units

By 2028, TAF will be a globally recognised pan African Thought Leader, with 30 thousand Members affiliated to our 56+ chapters. Central to this are our 5 Focus Units (Economy, Environment, Governance, Narrative & Wellness), each responsible for developing solution-oriented policies & initiatives within their scope - and to 1 or more of which our Members associate.

Members from across Africa will then participate directly and together in the research, engagement & advocacy activity of their chosen Focus Unit, thereby manufacturing unity (of action & purpose), Focus Unit policy credibility and organisational capacity to hold vested interests to account on each others' behalf.

TAF Assembly Call for Volunteers

Our Assembly is the highest governance organ of TAF. Its principal role is to ensure that TAF remains true to the Pan-African spirit, principles and objectives of our charter, reflecting the voice of African people in our strategy and objectives and to hold our Cabinet and Executive to account for TAF's plans and progress. Since inception, TAF has been operating our Interim Assembly, overseen by our Interim Speaker. Having made considerable operational progress, TAF now wishes to expand the number of Assembly Members, in order to extend the effectiveness of our Assembly and to strengthen our institutional governance.

The Speaker of the TAF Assembly has issued a call for nominations and volunteers to join the ranks of Assembly Membership. Subject to selection and the TAF onboarding process, applications are open to any Members and non-Members who are aligned with TAF's Vision & Mission. For more information read the full Call for volunteers.
