Our theme for the month of March is
The African mindset and neocolonial control

The conversations this week will focus on Pan-Africanism and how it challenges the divisions left by colonial rule. Education remains a key area where outdated systems continue to influence minds to serve foreign interests rather than African progress. We will also look at health and wellness which are critical areas where dependency on external systems persists, but efforts toward self-sufficiency are growing.

This month's Policy Paper will look into how the African mindset has been shaped by neocolonial control and why true sovereignty begins with a mindset shift. Breaking free requires more than policy reforms - it demands a fundamental shift in perception, rejecting narratives that undermine African agency and potential. Join us as we unpack the psychological barriers sustaining neocolonial influence and the strategies needed to build a self-reliant, empowered Africa.

Collin Waikya

Meet Collin Waikya, Research Officer in TAF Wellness from Uganda. Committed to redefining healthcare and education in Africa, Collin joined TAF to drive informed choices and holistic well-being.

Head of Research & Policy: Responsible for research-driven implementable-policy development, policy prioritisation, research integrity & quality, inter-Focus Unit research & policy coordination and thought leadership. Requires relevant policy-sector experience.

Head of Engagement: Responsible for impactful delivery of external engagement with & through policy development & implementation stakeholders (including members & partners and TAF commercial business models), inter-Focus Unit engagement coordination and thought leadership. Requires relevant, but not specific policy-sector, experience.

Head of Communications: Responsible for internal & external communications (incl. brand, strategy & execution) for the Focus Unit and intra-TAF coordination. Requires relevant, but not specific policy-sector, experience.

Head of Support Unit: Responsible for strategic & operational finance, governance & controls, legal and HR. Requires relevant, but not specific policy-sector, experience.

Deputy CEO: Responsible for coordination & prioritisation of leadership team & unit activities. Requires organisation or large team management experience.
