"TAF Environment talks about Ubuntu"

TAF Environment talks about Ubuntu

Ubuntu connects us deeply to the earth and to each other, emphasising that our collective well-being relies on the harmony of all life. TAF Environment embraces this philosophy to protect our abundant natural world; with an emphasis on equitable exploitation of indigenous natural resources, for productive sustainability.

Join The African Federation, as we celebrate Ubuntu. To know more about TAF, visit the TAF Website

Our theme for the month of April is
The role of indigenous knowledge systems in Africa’s natural resource management

This week we ask the question, Are IKS more effective? The real issue is not whether Indigenous Knowledge Systems work. They have sustained Africa’s ecosystems for generations. The question is why they are still not taken seriously in conservation policy. Yet these systems offer steady solutions rooted in respect, relationship and adaptation. They have endured where formal interventions have failed and still hold answers for a more sustainable future.

Role of indigenous knowledge systems in Africa

This month's Policy Paper explores how indigenous knowledge has successfully managed Africa’s natural resources for centuries, the barriers to integrating it into formal policies and the risks of losing this wisdom. True sustainability requires recognising and strengthening the expertise that has been here all along. Join us as we look into how indigenous and modern approaches can work together to create effective, community-led environmental solutions for Africa’s future.

Our Principles - Reach Out to Build Bridges

We are intentional in reaching out to build bridges for the advancement of our vision and mission. All that we do as Africans must move us closer towards the reunification of The African Federation, a united African nation unrestrained, uncompromised and undivided; for we know that the splinters and splitting of our lands was imposed upon us only to bring conflict and weaken us. Through bridge building we shall not be subject to the exploits of those that want what belongs to us. As African people, we are not against people of foreign origin living in or out of our Africa, contributing to Africa’s development, so long as they do so without violating the laws of our lands and in compliance with our pan-African principles.
