Our theme for the month of April is
The role of Indigenous Knowledge Systems in Africa’s natural resource management

As we finalise this theme, it’s clear that IKSs deserve more than symbolic recognition. The real challenge is deciding if we are ready to share power. Ready to rethink how decisions are made and who gets to make them. Because sometimes the answers have been here all along, held in community memory and rooted in generations of relationship with the land - and true support means protecting that, respecting it and making space for it to lead.

Role of indigenous knowledge systems in Africa

This month's Policy Paper explores how indigenous knowledge has successfully managed Africa’s natural resources for centuries, the barriers to integrating it into formal policies and the risks of losing this wisdom. True sustainability requires recognising and strengthening the expertise that has been here all along. Join us as we look into how indigenous and modern approaches can work together to create effective, community-led environmental solutions for Africa’s future.

Our Values - Unity in our Diversity

We acknowledge as Pan Africans that we are different, yet we are one. We seek unity, not uniformity. We believe that all Africans are our brothers and sisters regardless of their tribe, the language they speak; their skin tone; or whether they live today at home or in a foreign land. We are indeed still brothers and sisters, born of and into one African family. It is the strength of our extended family that will enable us to unite and redeem our home. We recognize that racism, tribalism and many other divisive isms have created barriers and caused us unquantifiably colossal losses. We must unite so that our enemies and detractors can no longer leverage those divisions to undermine us.
