Role of Civil Society Organisations in Liberia

Our theme for the month of May is
The role of Indigenous Knowledge Systems in Africa’s natural resource management

As we finalise our focus on Indigenous knowledge systems, we look at the role of intergenerational learning in keeping this knowledge alive. As younger people move away from traditional settings, much of it risks being lost. But examples from Zimbabwe, Kenya and elsewhere show that the gap can be bridged. These efforts highlight the importance of creating space for learning across generations so that Indigenous knowledge not only survives, but continues to evolve.

Role of indigenous knowledge systems in Africa

This month's Policy Paper explores how indigenous knowledge has successfully managed Africa’s natural resources for centuries, the barriers to integrating it into formal policies and the risks of losing this wisdom. True sustainability requires recognising and strengthening the expertise that has been here all along. Join us as we look into how indigenous and modern approaches can work together to create effective, community-led environmental solutions for Africa’s future.
