Our theme for the month of June is
Neocolonialism, imperialism and agents

June opens with a theme that asks uncomfortable but necessary questions. The colonial powers may be gone, but their influence remain embedded in economic systems, political agreements and development models that determine how Africa grows. This influence comes dressed as aid, expertise or partnership, but the terms are rarely set by Africans themselves. At the same time, there are people within the continent who help sustain these arrangements. Understanding this dynamic is the first step toward change.

Neocolonialism, imperialism and agents

This month’s Policy Paper peels the layers of neocolonial influence in Africa. It looks into how control is maintained without direct rule and how dependency is reinforced through systems that reward alignment with external agendas. Breaking this pattern means looking beyond external pressures to also confront the internal actors and beliefs that uphold them. We are calling for a deeper understanding of power and accountability, one that allows Africa to reclaim its voice, realign its institutions and define development on its own terms.

Our Values - Pride in African Culture

All Africans must have the freedom to practise the religion of their choice without persecution or prejudice, so long as this is done in a manner which doesn’t sow and nurse seeds of discord among African people, and is never at the cost of sweepingly discrediting our own African ways and beliefs. We acknowledge, embrace and jealously preserve the uplifting aspects of our rich cultural heritage and despise aspects that undermine our humanity and development.
